How Summit Maths looks after your family's information, in plain English. Last updated 8 October 2026.
For children
We only know your nickname, your school year and the answers you give. We use your answers to choose questions that are just right for you, and your grown-up can see how you're getting on. We never show you adverts, and we never share your information with anyone else.
Who we are
Summit Maths is a small, free pilot for local families, run by Vaibhav Vinod. If you have any questions about your information, or want to use any of your rights below, email vaibhavvinod@gmail.com.
What we collect
About you (the parent):
- your first name and email address, so you can log in and we can send you login and password emails;
- your password and 4-digit parent PIN, which are stored scrambled ("hashed") so no one can read them, not even us.
About each child:
- a nickname and school year, which you choose;
- which companion they picked and how you've chosen their progress is shown;
- which topics you've chosen for your child, and when each question type is next due for review;
- their practice: each question shown, the answer picked, whether it was right, how long it took, and their skill rating for each topic;
- the date and time of each practice session (used for the practice calendar);
- any "something's wrong with this question" reports they send, with the question they saw.
We never ask for a child's full name, email address, date of birth, photo, school or location, and there's nowhere to type them.
Why we use it
- To let you log in and keep your children's profiles under your account.
- To choose questions at the right level for each child (about a 75% chance of getting each one right) and to grow their companion.
- To show you your child's progress in the parent area.
- To find and fix questions that seem to have a wrong answer, using reports and patterns across all answers.
- To bring each type of question back for review after a growing gap. Review dates are worked out automatically from your child's answers and are only used to choose questions.
We use it for nothing else. There are no adverts, no tracking or analytics tools, and we never sell or share your information.
The score and question choice are calculated automatically from your child's answers. They're used only to pick questions and show progress, never to make decisions about your child.
Who can see it
- You can see your own children's profiles and progress. No other family can.
- Your child sees their companion and, only if you choose "Full rating", their maths score.
- Vaibhav Vinod can see the information to run the service and fix problems, for example to check a reported question.
Where it's stored
- Supabase keeps our database and logins. Our database is in London (UK).
- Google (Gmail) sends our sign-up, login and password emails, from vaibhavvinod@gmail.com. A copy of each email stays in that mailbox's sent folder, and we clear it out regularly.
- Vercel hosts the website. The part that handles your information runs in London. Vercel is a US company and, like any web host, briefly keeps technical records (such as IP addresses) to keep the site running and secure.
Both companies only handle our information under their data protection terms, and only to provide their service to us.
Cookies
We only use cookies the site needs to work, so there's no cookie banner:
- login cookies, so you stay logged in on your device;
- a parent-area cookie, which remembers for 15 minutes that you entered your PIN on this device;
- short-lived cookies used while you reset a forgotten password or PIN.
On a child's home screen, the browser also remembers which group of topics was open last time. That stays on the device and is never sent to us.
Our fonts are stored on our own site, so your browser doesn't contact Google or anyone else.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. You can remove a child or delete your whole account at any time in the parent area. When you do, the information is deleted from our database straight away.
- Copies in our database provider's backups are overwritten automatically, usually within about a week.
- Supabase keeps short-term security records of logins (such as the email address and IP address used) to protect accounts. These are deleted automatically.
- The difficulty rating of each type of question is worked out from everyone's answers together. These numbers aren't linked to any child, so they stay.
Delete my account (you'll need your parent PIN).
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your family's information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email vaibhavvinod@gmail.com and we'll reply within a month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Designed for children
We follow the ICO's Children's Code: the most private settings are the default, we collect as little as we can, and children are never shown adverts or encouraged to share anything. Only parents create accounts.
